Commercial refrigeration and air conditioning come with real legal duties around refrigerant handling, system efficiency and food safety. Here's what applies to your business โ€” and how we keep you on the right side of it.

F-Gas regulations

Fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-Gases) are the refrigerants used in most fridges, cold rooms and air conditioning. The law requires that anyone installing, servicing or decommissioning this equipment is F-Gas certified, that systems are checked for leaks at intervals based on their refrigerant charge, and that records are kept. All work we arrange is carried out by an F-Gas certified engineer, with the leak checks and documentation handled for you.

TM44 air conditioning inspections

If your air conditioning has a combined effective rated output over 12kW, you have a legal duty under the Energy Performance of Buildings Regulations to hold a valid TM44 inspection certificate, renewed every five years. The inspection checks efficiency and sizing and recommends ways to cut energy use โ€” and not holding a valid certificate can mean a fixed penalty.

Food safety & temperature records

For any business storing food, refrigeration is a food-safety control. Environmental health officers and insurers expect evidence that fridges and cold rooms are maintained and holding safe temperatures. A planned maintenance contract produces those records automatically.

How we keep you compliant

F-Gas certified engineers, leak checks and records where required, TM44 inspections by a certified assessor, and maintenance documentation you can hand straight to an inspector or insurer. One supplier, all the paperwork.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do my engineers need to be F-Gas certified?

Yes โ€” by law, anyone handling fluorinated refrigerant gases in commercial refrigeration or air conditioning must hold F-Gas certification. All our work is carried out by certified engineers.

When do I need F-Gas leak checks?

Systems containing refrigerant above set thresholds must have periodic leak checks โ€” more often for larger charges โ€” with records kept. We carry these out and document them.

Is a TM44 inspection a legal requirement?

Yes, for air conditioning with combined output over 12kW, under the Energy Performance of Buildings Regulations. The certificate lasts five years.

Why keep refrigeration maintenance records?

Insurers and environmental health officers expect evidence that food-storage refrigeration is maintained and holding safe temperatures. Records protect you in a claim or inspection.
