COMPLIANCE · F-GAS & TM44

Your cooling plant comes with legal obligations

By law, any business that has stationary refrigeration or air conditioning installed or maintained must use an F-Gas certified company. And if the air conditioning across your premises adds up to 12kW or more of cooling — easily reached with a few split units — a TM44 energy inspection is legally required every five years, with fines for non-compliance.

Most Pembrokeshire businesses with cellar coolers, walk-ins or multiple AC splits are caught by these rules without realising it. We keep your kit running and your paperwork in order: F-Gas compliant servicing, leak checks, refrigerant records and TM44 inspections arranged where required.

Frequently asked questions

Do I legally need an F-Gas certified company to work on my fridge or AC?

Yes. Any business that installs, services or maintains stationary refrigeration or air conditioning containing F-Gas refrigerants must be F-Gas company certified — it is a legal requirement, not a quality badge. Using an uncertified engineer puts the compliance risk on you as the business owner. All work we arrange is carried out by F-Gas certified engineers with proper refrigerant records.

What is a TM44 inspection and does my business need one?

A TM44 inspection is a legally required energy assessment for buildings where air conditioning systems total 12kW or more of cooling capacity — which a few split units can easily reach. It must be repeated every five years by an accredited assessor and lodged on the government register, with fines of £300 for non-compliance. If you are not sure whether you cross the threshold, we can check your units and tell you in minutes.

How fast can you get to a breakdown?

We are local to Pembrokeshire, which is the whole point: no engineer travelling from Swansea or Cardiff. Emergency breakdowns are prioritised by what is at risk — a walk-in full of stock or a milk tank gets the fastest response. Call us and we will give you an honest arrival time, not a call-centre promise.

Do you repair all makes of equipment?

Yes — commercial refrigeration and air conditioning is largely built from common components (compressors, controllers, fans, valves), so our engineers work on all major makes of cabinet, cold room, cellar cooler and AC system. If a part is obsolete or the repair is not economic, we will say so and quote a replacement instead.

Is a maintenance contract actually worth it?

For most food and hospitality businesses, yes. A serviced system uses less energy, fails far less often, and lasts years longer — and F-Gas rules require leak-check records for many systems anyway, which a contract takes care of. Contract customers also get priority when the summer breakdown queue forms.

What areas do you cover?

All of Pembrokeshire — Haverfordwest, Milford Haven, Pembroke Dock, Tenby, Fishguard, Narberth, St Davids and everywhere between — plus Carmarthenshire and into Ceredigion. If you are in West Wales, call us.
